Since AI personal color diagnosis analyzes pixel data from a single photo, the conditions you shoot in have a huge effect on accuracy. A few small adjustments go a long way toward a more trustworthy result.
Why lighting matters most
Artificial light — especially warm, yellow-toned bulbs or colored lighting — can distort your true skin color in a photo. Natural daylight from a window, ideally in the morning or early afternoon when the sun isn't too harsh, gives the most reliable results.
Angle and distance
Shoot straight-on with your whole face centered in frame. Too close introduces lens distortion; too far leaves too little face data for the pixel analysis. An arm's-length distance is about right.
What to avoid
- Beauty filters or editing apps
- Heavy foundation or tone-up cream
- Backlit shots (light source behind you)
- Mixed or colored indoor lighting
Quick pre-shot checklist
- Are you near a window with natural light?
- Are you facing the camera directly?
- Have you turned off any filters or editing?
- Is your makeup kept to a minimum?
Following this checklist alone noticeably improves the reliability of your AI diagnosis. If your result seems off, try reshooting at a different time of day or location and compare the two.
